Watching Russian mechanics work their magic over the past few years, we've learned that the local "aristocracy" really loves American SUVs. Not Lincolns and Fords, but the ones from Lexus, Infiniti or BMW that were designed with the American market in mind.
While the Lexus RX makes you look like you are on a suburban school run in America, sit behind the wheel of one in Moscow and you're the Mac Daddy. That's especially true if your copy of the crossover happens to be covered in crazy tuning bits.
Today, we're going to look at the work of a company called SCL Global. We've known about their body kits for a number of years. They specialize in SUVs and initially made a name for themselves with the deceased but arguably very cool Infiniti FX.
Unless we're mistaken, SCL also designed the Renegade Russia body kit for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which did make it way to the States and has been featured on our site a couple of times. Regardless, the flavor if the day is Lexus.
Both the RX and the smaller NX have been targeted with a merciless barrage of body accessories that leaves both crossovers looking sporty and extremely bold. The packages come in various forms, but we're going to showcase only the most extreme ones.
They completely change the way the front end of these crossovers look with a new hood, fenders flairs, a redesigned bumper, and more. The highlight is always an explosive grille that looks even bolder than Lexus' own spindle.
Honestly, it's not bad at all. And around the back, the widebody makeover continues with more fender inserts and the only mid-exhaust diffuser you're ever going to find on a Lexus crossover. These kits also have names, the Goemon RX costing about $10,000 and the Kotaro kit boosting the esthetics of the NX for $6,900. Those are anime characters; in case you're wondering.
