When talking about supercars, the Lexus LFA has a segment of its own. Built in only 500 units over two years, the rear-wheel drive coupe has proven its skill both on the road and the track.
Sold out for quite a while, with the last unit delivered almost three months ago, the Lexus LFA is already a collectors item and sells for more than just its initial $375,000 price tag. And we’re shouldn’t be surprised that Lexus is proud of what it had achieved with the LFA, a project that required about ten years of hard word.
The company’s latest video, called “LFA Tribute”, shows the efforts Lexus had to go throw to offer this outstanding sportscar. And while no second-generation model will be offered, we’re sure that the LFA will live on through other Lexus-badged cars.
“In 2000 Lexus engineer Haruhiko Tanahashi assembled a team of engineers and launched a project to create one of the world's greatest supercars. The project was nearly cancelled on several occasions, but finally between 2010 and 2012 Lexus produced 500 of these remarkable $375,000 machines. Although another LFA will never be produced, the materials, knowledge and techniques used in its creation will live on in future Lexus vehicles,” the Japanese company said.
