Holden has previewed the design direction of its highly anticipated VF Commodore range with a public reveal of the 2013 Calais V luxury sports concept over the weekend. The car is as near to production form as is possible, and only a few monte separate us from the launch scheduled for mid-year 2013.
Holden makes no apologies for this car: it's the best four-door ever designed and built in Australia. It's so good, in fact, that it will be imported into the US as the Chevrolet SS.
With technologies like Auto Park Assist, Head-up Display and Reverse Traffic Alert, the VF Commodore is the most advanced Holden ever. But what's the point if it can't look good.
Most of the photos released over the weekend showed the new Commodore in a particularly boring shade of gray. One red color car was our ray of hope and allowed us to render the car in three more shades that Holden fans are probably waiting for, blue, green and purple.
