The future all-new Land Rover Defender is set to spawn a pickup truck version that is expected to hit the market in 2017. Gerry McGovern, the automaker’s head of design, told whatcar that while the vehicle could arrive in 2017, it will have to wait for standard versions of the Defender range to arrive first.
The information fits earlier reports, which showed that five- and seven-seat incarnations of the Defender’s fresh generation are set to reach us in 2016.
As for the nature of the car, the designer explained that this will be more of a premium product, of course as much as the notion is possible within the segment. Think of the Volkswagen Amarok as an indicator.
Expect the Land Rover Defender pickup to be able to climb to the moon and back.
