The internet’s most followed socialite has done it again – putting a Lamborghini through the tortures of content creation, only to have a lucky subscriber trying to win a supercar (and the pile of cash in the passenger seat). A Lamborghini Huracan is the grand prize of a YouTube challenge by MrBeast, and this time, the car needs to be saved from absolute destruction before the contender can claim it as his.
Blake Bachert is no stranger to Jimmy Donaldson’s YouTube antics that garner views in the tens or hundreds of millions. The young man has been a main character in other past episodes of wrecking mayhem and lost. This time, the challenge is tougher than ever: basically, defend a Lamborghini Huracan against four sessions of devastation at all costs.

Literally, the world's number one social media influencer – that would be MrBeast – is funding the whole show with a no-expense-spared policy. The scenario looks like the deleted part of the script from the Mad Max series. Round one is actually Rounds 10,000: build a protective barrier that will keep the Lambo safe from automatic weapons live fire target practice. The time frame allowed for the constructive part is 24 hours.

We’re talking assault rifles and Light Machine Guns on one side and bricks, water tanks, wrecked cars, freight containers, and wooden railroad sleepers in front of the Huracan, shielding it against the arsenal. Now, the YouTubers don’t reveal what specific type of ordnance was used in Operation Huracan, so the impressive but improvised fortification (price $78,000) isn’t guaranteed to be bulletproof.

But it is – although those ten thousand rounds have done a pretty good job pulverizing the first line of defense (the brick wall). Ultimately, the eighteen-wheeler containers fend off the bullets (mostly because there are railroad ties inside them, so even the .30-cal LMG didn’t score a hit). Lamborghini 1 – MrBeast 0. However, this match is four quarters long, and the second stage is even more dreadful than facing the firing squad (from behind a heavily fortified standpoint, but still).

A 100-foot drop requires something completely opposite than armor plating, and Blake Bachert goes shopping again. Pillows, mattresses, cushions, inflatable slides, and cardboard boxes – everything that can act as a shock-absorbing landing pad. A 1.6-ton supercar freefalling from 30.48 meters will hit the ground wheels-on at 55 mph (88kph). That’s guaranteed to at least leave a scar on the livery if the improvised buffer doesn’t perfectly dampen the landing.

Well, the compulsive spending spree kicks in once more, and in 24 hours, the Lambo-pad is ready. (Some people might argue against this, but now there’s irrefutable proof that money can fall from the sky sometimes). The $250,000 Huracan and the $100,000 in cash stashed in it hang on for dear integrity for 24 hours before the boom crane lets go.

The car makes a touchdown right on top of one of the three bouncy castles and cracks the front bumper. That instantly shaves off a grand from the Huracan’s price tag, but that's only a skin-deep wound and doen't count in the grand scheme of things. The precious car is otherwise unscathed, and its naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 starts up after a few moments of intense tension-clad hesitation. Huracan 2 – YouTube 0.

Halfway through the challenge, it's playtime over because MrBeast sets the entire show on fire. The Huracan will now be bombarded with ten blazing cars dropped from above. Again, the rules of engagement are simple: protect the Lamborghini from the flames using any means possible. If the car makes it out in the same state it entered, it’s a pass.

The builders cut up a container and lay it over the Raging Bull supercar to keep it safe from scorching heat and the crushing impact forces. Now, shipping containers are tough, but they’re not designed to withstand impacts with two-ton automobiles falling directly on top from 50 feet high. That’s a 15-meter elan for the fiery gravity-powered battering rams – ten of them, mind you – so reinforcements are more than mandatory.

A pair of containers leaned against the bottom one (that serves as the main protective structure) should deflect the blows away from the Lambo. The calculations pan out (but only just) as the repeated direct hits take their toll on the metallic structures. Nonetheless, the precious Italian vault-on-wheels (probably the world’s fastest deposit box) makes it to the final round.

After the three-day ordeal, you’d expect the going to get to its toughest – and it probably did. The final obstacle between the grand prize and its persistent protector is a train. The Lamborghini must survive a train crash to become a new owner. Traveling at 35 mph (55 kph), the locomotive and its two-tank-car block is a formidable adversary that requires much barricading to stop it dead in its tracks.

Fighting fire with fire is the motto of the final day, and the railroad ties that stopped bullets are now pitted against the vehicle they were built to support. Every bit of the props used in the previous three stages is used to stop the train before it reaches the Lamborghini. Luckily, physics is not as impressed by MrBeast’s shenanigans as his viewership pool (estimated at around 390 million social media user accounts). The train is defeated, and the Huracan lives to fight another day.
