We're filled with disappointment right now. The Audi RS6 Avant went from probably the coolest wagon in the world to one that can't even win a drag race against an SUV. Granted, that SUV is the Lamborghini Urus.
On paper, this should have been a really close, entertaining drag race. Despite looking so different, these two models have a lot in common, including the 4.0-liter bi-turbo engine.

This new generation V8 is shared between multiple brands within the VW Group. Lamborghini undoubtedly has the best version in the Urus, as it produces 641 horsepower and 626 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) of torque.

However, the gap between it and the new RS6 is supposed to be really small, the German wagon being down only 50 hp and 35 lb-ft (50 Nm) of torque. Somewhat compensating for that, the RS6 is about 270 pounds lighter. The official European performance numbers say these two thus deserve to have the same 0 to 62mph time of 3.6 seconds. It's no secret that the Lambo is faster than that, but Audis are also known for being dark horses of drag racing.

However, the Lamborghini didn't get that memo and just decided to make a much faster and quicker machine. This drag race put together by BOTB proves beyond doubt that Audi messed up in many areas.

The RS6 doesn't have the best launch control, but we kind of expected that. The real problem is that the Lamborghini pulls away cleanly for the entire duration of the race. This indicates the power deficit is at least double what we see on paper.

After consecutive thrashings in drag races, the rolling races paint slightly closer performance. So, will this deter people from buying the RS6? Available from $109,000, this wagon brings an almost unique proposition to the American market. And with the left-over money, you can just install the mods needed to take down the Lamborghini Urus.
