Lamborghini used the Paris Motor Show to introduce start-stop and cylinder deactivation systems for the Aventador and the move led to speculation that the carmaker is looking to travel further down the green road, especially since Ferrari is currently working to develop a production version of a hybrid powertrain.
However, its seems that the Raging Bull doesn’t want any electric systems to interfere with its character, so we won’t see Lmabo introducing a hybrid powertrain anytime soon.
Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini CEO, told journalists attending the Paris Motor Show that neither the Aventador, nor the Gallardo will get such a system.
“There is no plug-in hybrid planned for the either the Lamborghini Gallardo or Aventador. Due to the size of the cars and due to the weight of the hybridisation it would be impossible for our cars to adopt this current technology. Firstly, it won’t fit, and secondly, it would reduce the their power-to-weight ratios by too much,” the CEO explained.
