The Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale and the McLaren 12C have an important thing in common, besides belonging to the supercar segment. They are both retired now, with McLaren having recently announced the end of the 12C production, with the 12C-based 650S taking over. We now come forth to bring a third thing for the two supercars to share - the same runway.
The clip below shows the two... ahem... veterans battling it out in a series of drag races. We are talking about first gear rolls here. While this does protect the supercars’ drivelines, it also neutralizes the Gallardo’s all-wheel drive advantage.
If you want to turn to the figures, one of the supercars has a serious power advantage, tipping the scales at 3,115 lbs (1,413 kg), compared to the other’s 3,348 lbs (1,519 kg) weight. This obviously shows at the quarter mile game, where the first needs 10.2 seconds, setting a trap speed of 135.5 mph (219 km/h). As for the second, this takes 11.2 seconds for the quarter mile, crossing the line at 126.5 mph (204 km/h) - we’ll let you guess which car is which...
