We love strange cars here at autoevolution and when it comes to this subject, Jay is the most famous gearhead that owns and drives such cool oddities.
The Shotwell three-wheeler, the Mormon Meteor speed record breaker along with the two-stroke diesel Peterbilt truck hot-rod and the Bentley Speed Six are just a few of the strange contraptions Jay Leno showed us along the way.

The most recent gas-guzzling monster he showcased is the ‘La Bestioni’, a 250-inch (6.096mm) long beast ‘speedster’. Its story started when its now-owner Gary Whales found a 1919 American LaFrance fire truck rotting on a field, which he took and refurbished. He added some modern parts, like disk brakes up front, an electric starter and power steering to make it more safer on the road. Then he changed its front fascia by adding a unique, hand-made radiator cover which looks like some sort of a birds’s beak, after which he moved along to the back where the truck ends now in rocket-style way.

After that, he painted everything with yellow and added black finished elements ending up with something that can be considered as the world’s oldest steampunk Bumblebee. See the impressive chain-drive monster in detail in the video bellow.
