A feature Kawasaki has used successfully on the bigger KX450F, Launch Control is present on the quarter-liter off-road machine Team green prepared for 2014, the KX250F.
Activated by pressing a large button conveniently placed on the left handlebar, the Launch Control feature retards the ignition a bit, allowing the engine to deploy more usable power to the ground, and thus granting better efficiency at the starting line.

The Kawasaki Launch Control feature is automatically disengaged as the rider shifts into the third gear, returning the engine to the original mapping and restoring the power to normal.

The Launch Control is a feature more and more used by motorcycle manufacturers for providing better starts for both MX and road racing machinery. Launch Control also reduces rear wheel slip when throttling hard at the beginning of the race.

The 2014 Kawasaki KX250F also receives an improved transmission which promises better shifting and the Showa SFF (Separate Function Fork) for less weight and better suspension adjustability. Photos courtesy of Brendan Lutes and Transworld.
