Chris Evans on Twitter: “RT @JeremyClarkson: Next week, I'm doing a pilot Radio 2 breakfast show with an independent production company. We'll see how it goes.” The tongue-in-cheek tweets from Evans and Clarkson are further supported by a report from Contact Music. I know what you’re thinking right now...
How can Jeremy appear if he’s in South Africa for the Clarkson, Hammond & May Live tour? Though we have no confirmation on this one, we believe that the Jeremy Clarkson interview on TFI Friday is pre-recorded. The best argument to back the pre-recorded assumption up is Jeremy tweeting “Wake me up before you go-go” and a picture of Hammond he posted this morning on Twitter.
Unfortunately no, Jeremy won’t be driving the LaFerrari hypercar. Chris Evans uploaded a picture of what looks like a professional racing driver seated in the car, joined on the starting line of the Top Gear test track by an old lady in a mobility scooter. Tonight's TFI Friday will be an interesting watch, no doubt about it.
UPDATE: Jeremy Clarkson is confirmed to appear on TFI Friday. In the promo video below, the guests list is the following: Blur, Liam Gallagher, Years & Years, Rudimental, Roger Paltry, Nick Grimshaw, JEREMY CLARKSON, Kirstie Allsopp, Tom Daley, Amanda Seyfried and Shaun Ryder. Get excited.
UPDATE 2: Chris Evans told The Sun: “We will be doing one or two of what might end up being the last recorded laps around the Top Gear track... We have done that lap. That leaderboard has been there for 12 years. We are going to try and break the record. I honestly don’t know if we have. But it’s the same camera crew who filmed every week on Top Gear who did our lap.” Now this is getting truly exciting.
UPDATE 3 (Spoiler Alert!!!): Jeremy Clarkson gave Chris Evans a lesson on how to deliver a flawless, baritonal "... in the wooorld" enunciation in pure Clarksonian style. The segment was pre-recorded, as we mentioned earlier, with Clarkson in the passenger seat and Evans driving the LaFerrari around London.
The record-breaking Top Gear lap at the Dunsfold aerodrome? It did happen... on a bombshell. Chris Evans' mum, who's kickin' on 90 years of age, set the record for the slowest lap around the Top Gear test track. What about the LaFerrari and mysterious racing driver known as "The Stink?"
It did a lap, trying to beat the Pagani Huayra's record set by The Stig. Unfortunately, it was off by four tenths of a second due to the slightly moist track conditions. The Stink (aka Jason Plato of Fifth Gear fame) couldn't submit the tail of the hybrid hypercar from sliding the speed off in the corners.
UPDATE 4: it's official. The last Top Gear episode with Jeremy Clarkon as a presenter will air on June 28th.
What a night, epic
