If in doubt, special edition! Jeep is a bit lacking in terms of newities in the subcompact and compact segments, which is why the Renegade and Compass are up for special treatment in the United Kingdom. The Night Eagle edition is based on the Longitude trim level in both cases, and as you can tell from the photo gallery, black garnish is of the essence.
Describes as “a bolder, sportier look to the urban Jeep lineup,” the Night Eagle starts off with gloss-black alloy wheels and grille surrounds, tinted glass, a dedicated emblem, and black exterior badging. Both models also come with the 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system, featuring navigation with 3D graphics, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity.

The Renegade further sweetens the deal with two-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, a choice of five colors for the exterior, two gasoline engines, and one diesel option. The 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo puts out 120 horsepower while the 1.6-liter turbo diesel makes do with 120 ponies as well, connected to a six-speed manual transmission. The 1.3-liter four-cylinder turbo is a bit more potent at 150 horsepower, featuring a six-speed DCT.

As for the Compass, the compact-sized crossover utility vehicle brings the point home with techno leather and premium cloth seats, gloss-black bezels, two diesel engines, and a four-cylinder turbo. The most powerful option is a 1.4-liter engine which develops 140 ponies on full song.

Both Night Eagle models come with the Jeep 5-3-5 offer like the rest of the lineup, translating to a five-year warranty, three-year servicing, and five-year roadside assistance package. Pricing starts at £23,445 and £27,230, respectively, on-the-road for the limited-edition utility vehicles.

Built in Italy, Brazil, and China, the Renegade entered production in 2014 on the FCA Small Wide 4x4 platform. The Compass was redesigned in 2016 from the ground up, featuring a long-wheelbase version of the Renegade’s platform. If you were in the market for a crossover costing under £30k, would you take Jeep on its offers?
