Jeep is currently planing to target the upscale SUV market, and is set to introduce a model that will be slotted above the Grand Cherokee.
Multiple media sources report that the company will bring back the Grand Wagoneer nameplate, creating a seven-seat luxury SUV. Chrysler is aiming to reduce costs, so the company could ask engineers to develop common solution for the Grand Wagoneer and upcoming Maserati Kubang SUV.
Both cars will be underpinned by a modified version of the platform used for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. While the Kubang will get its own engines, the Grand Wagoneer is expected to share its powerplants with the Grand Cherokee, which means that we'll get units such as the Hemi V8 and the Pentastar V6.
The Jeep Grand Wagoneer is expected to come to the world in 2014.
