Top Gear’s James May says testing cars at the Nurburgring makes them harsh. We’re not completely sure about that, but we are sure he’s not going to like that the next Jaguar sedan is being developed there.
Currently, the Tata-owned car company is doing just fine with the model lineup it’s jot, which includes only two sedans, one big and one even bigger. But If they are to compete with the big boys, Jaguar needs this model to be a rival for the BMW 3 Series.
Rumors suggest the spiritual successor to the S-Type will be called the “XS”. There’s nothing extra small about this test mule tough, as it’s only slightly smaller than the XF.
As the test mule sedan goes round the Nurburgring’s famous carrousel corner, we get a good chance to hear the engine. From the harsh nose it’s making, we can clearly tell the engine is a turbo four-cylinder, probably the 240 hp 2.0-liter offered on the Evoque.
