JAC Motors has just unveiled its first model for Australia, two years after a failed attempt. The JAC T9 Ute is an SUV that won't break the bank, the carmaker claims about the new player on the market Down Under.
The all-new JAC T9 has just touched down in Australia with the reputation of a real workhorse. “A jack of all trades,” JAC Motors calls it, crediting it with style, comfort, and performance, all packed up in practicality.

If you have not heard about JAC Motors so far, you're getting there. The carmaker sold over 592,500 vehicles worldwide, with around 40 percent of the volume, approximately 250,000 examples, exported to over 130 markets. Australia, Europe, Africa, Asia, Central and South America, and the Middle East are the continents and regions where it set wheels.

Most of the units remained in their home market, China. The numbers turn JAC Motors into a key player in the segment.

However, the United States will have to resort to seeing the T9 only in photos for the moment. Meanwhile, the arrival in Australia is exciting for the brand.

Michael Jiang, Chairman of JAC Motors Australia, believes that the Turbo Diesel T9 Ute is just perfect for the customers there both as a daily driver on short drives to the office or a weekender, loaded to the max with adventure gear.

The T9 comes with clean, simple lines, feeling at home both on the street and off it. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, and the load bed is capable of hosting a full-size pallet.

There are seats wrapped in quilted leather, and the driver can control the functions of the car through the 10.4-inch touchscreen, which offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The vehicle is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, mated to an automatic transmission. The engine generates 168 horsepower (170 metric horsepower) and 302 pound-feet (410 Newton meters) of torque. The pickup can tow as much as 7,716 pounds (3.5 tons).

The T9 puts safety first as it is equipped with lane-keeping assist, blindspot detection, and lane departure warning.

The model will set wheels on Australian soil in April 2024 with an MSRP of $45,630 for the top spec Haven. The entry-level version, Oasis, starts at $42,662. Regardless of the trim, the vehicle comes standard with a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

Deputy Managing Director of JAC Motors Australia, Danny Larnatic, tells customers to keep an eye on the model because there is more where that came from. JAC is also planning to roll out electric light and medium trucks for the Australian market and is making plans to offer a plug-in hybrid T9.
