This is the Vision Qe concept car, previewing the first of the electric models that Infiniti is working on. Late to the EV party, the Japanese brand will unveil its first zero-emission concept car at the Japan Mobility Show, which is just a fancy name for the Tokyo Motor Show.
Infiniti brings a sleek electric concept that will be the base for the upcoming sedan. The concept introduces the updated version of the company’s Artistry in Motion design language, which gravitates around the carmaker's signature single fluid motion feature: the line that runs from the hood over the fenders and all the way to the rear section.

Unique lighting elements stretch along the entire width of the front end, flanked by ultra-slim headlights which extend sideways, toward the fenders, in what Infiniti calls the digital piano key design. This area integrates the illuminated Infiniti logo.

The front fascia also displays the double arch grille motif, illuminated and designed in an exaggerated manner to highlight the proportions of the car.

There is no information on the battery capacity of the upcoming EV, nor on the range, motor setup, or horsepower. But according to the brand, we will be dealing with a performance car, which will be equipped with all-wheel drive, which translates into a multiple-motor layout.

The most potent cars in the Infiniti lineup right now are the Q50 Red Sport and Q60 Red Sport. They are powered by a 3.0-liter V6, linked to a seven-speed automatic and tuned to deliver 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. The performance electric sedan coming soon must surely offer more to be attractive.

Therefore, the production version of the Vision Qe concept car will be the first out of a series of electric cars planned by Infiniti. Set to enter production at the firm's Canton plant in Mississippi, the EV will go after the Tesla Model S. An electric crossover will follow suit, previewed by the Vision Qxe concept car. Where this one will slot remains to be seen.

But the brand is far from going completely electric and is planning ICE-powered models as well, with four of them set to make an appearance in the near future, according to Jose Roman, Global Head of Infiniti.

The first will make its debut in 2024 and will come in the shape the Infiniti QX80 flagship SUV, previewed by the QX Monograph concept car, unveiled earlier this year.

We should expect a model with curvy lines and a minimalist approach on the outside as well as on the inside, without compromising comfort and luxury.

A new Infiniti QX65 crossover coupe will show up in the company’s portfolio in 2024 as well. Two electric models are also planned for next year. But until that happens, the Vision Qe is the closest we are currently getting to Infinit’s first-ever electric car.
