Ever since the grand unveiling of the Hyundai N Vision 74 Concept one and a half years ago, there have been some contradicting rumors about it hitting the assembly line.
We now have a new one that claims the Korean automaker has reportedly decided to green-light it, and it seems it is a couple of years away from arriving on the car scene.

According to Korea's ETNews, Hyundai has decided to build 100 copies of the show car. The report claims that 70 of them will be sold to private customers, whereas the rest will supposedly be used for racing in North America and Europe, acting as ambassadors for the N sub-brand.

The report says that the car's production version, supposedly previewed by the N Vision 74 Concept, will boast around 800 metric horses or 789 brake horsepower/588 kilowatts. The model is understood to be able to travel for 250 to 310 miles (400-500 km) in optimum conditions, down from the study's 373 miles (600 km). Save for the range that sounds impressive, though we seriously doubt it will happen.

If everything goes according to this alleged plan, then it should launch in the first half of 2026. But is that really how it is going to pan out? There are some serious eyebrow-raisers here, as first, the Korean outlet doesn't reveal its source. This, combined with other similar rumors that Hyundai themselves denied, tells us that we should take this information with the proverbial pinch of salt - and a large one, for that matter.

Now, while very unlikely to happen, the production version of the N Vision 74 Concept would be a breath of fresh air that would step into a niche where fuel cell cars would prove superior to electric vehicles. The reason is the 114 horsepower (116 ps/85 kW) fuel cell stack acting as an on-board charger, which feeds the 62.4 kWh battery pack with 800V capability that juices up the two rear motors that steam out a combined 670 hp (680 ps/500 kW) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque.

The study was inspired by the 1974 Hyundai Pony Coupe, which Giorgetto Giugiaro styled, and it is a wonderful modern ode to it that stays true to some of its iconic lines and looks like it came straight from the '70s to the electrified present.

As we already told you, such a model would be a great addition to the company's lineup, even if its production will be kept to only 100 copies, as it would be a testament to what they can achieve. Still, despite the latest report claiming otherwise, we doubt that it will indeed happen. Guess only time will tell if it's true or not.
