Hyundai No Longer Offers iPad for Equus Onwers

This might come as bad news for Equus lovers who planed to interact with the car’s features trough the free iPad offered by the manufacturer when buying a new Hyundai model. The manufacturer decided to pull the plug on one of the most important features of the Equus according to some - the Apple iPad. For those who are not accustomed with the Hyundai’s program the iPad was offered as a high-tech owners manual in Equus’ glove compartment.

Even though the manufacturer still runs adds for it free iPad won’t come with Equus anymore starting the 2012 model year. Instead, the owners will have to depend on the old school voluminous paper version of the manual as explained by Jim Trainor for USA Today. The iPad program was intended as a one year promotion. The Equus only went in the US about a year ago.

In a strange way, Hyundai had relied heavily on its television ads for the Equus given the fact that it had an iPad as an owners manual, without talking about any attributes of the $58,000 car itself. Worth mentioning the fact that the adds were narrated by Jeff Bridges as a publicity plus. The prodigy mind behind the electronic owners manual John Krafcik of Hyundai America is considered a wonder maker.

The electronic manual has a lots of interactive features, its capability of like revealing how the car’s headlights can be steered from side to side when cornering, with the slide of a fingertip. Also, for future owners of the Equus who want the digital manual, a download version is available.
