Apparently, the iconic Porsche 911 series will be the last model in the range to survive the upcoming EV revolution that was started by the Taycan.
Soon, the second-generation Macan compact luxury crossover SUV will come out exclusively with zero-emissions powertrains. Then it's time for the 718 series to enjoy the new lease of battery packs, and before 2030 we will also see the mighty Cayenne adopt the novel EV lifestyle.

On the other hand, just like the Ford Mustang among pony and muscle cars, the 911 series will be the last of the Mohicans in terms of ICE powertrains. But that doesn't mean it can't be electrified – if not in the real world, at least across the imaginative realm of digital car content creators.

A good case in point is being made across the parallel universe by Sugar Chow, the virtual artist better known as sugardesign_1 on social media. He has paused his Chinese and station wagon renderings for this stunningly cool CGI mashup project. So, after great stuff like the Lexus IS Sportwagon F Sport or a NIO EP5 coupe, now let's take a look at the 'Porsche 911E Targa.'

Introduced late in 2018 as the current eighth generation of the legendary 911 series, the 992 model has grown to include the usual array of Carrera, Targa, Turbo, and GT3 models. There are many versions – including special editions like the Sport Classic, Dakar, or S/T – but to many folks, the best one is always the one with the T-top.

Currently, the 911 Targa models include Targa 4 and 4S, plus Targa 4 GTS variants, and can go up to 473 horsepower and sprint to 62 mph (100 kph) in just 3.5 seconds on their way to 191 mph (308 kph). That's not bad, right? However, this pixel master proposes an interesting CGI mashup between the classic yet modern Porsche 911 Targa and the company's only EV on sale – Taycan.

Ironically, the battery saloon and shooting brake's front fascias look utterly interchangeable with the front end of the 911. In contrast, the rear only needs the rear exhaust setup's deletion to complete the illusion. And it certainly looks good – especially since this CGI expert has the habit of making his digital projects look like every other real automobile.

Anyway, there is also one thing we do not know about this unofficial Porsche 911E Targa – what's hiding under the body in terms of powertrains? Most likely, Taycan's bigger battery pack won't have space inside a 911 in its current form, so let's go with the 71-kWh (net) option and imagine it with Taycan 4S oomph – a peak power output of 523 hp and 472 lb-ft (640 Nm) is probably more than enough to make it feisty, right?
