If your 1996-2001 Toyota Corolla’s cigarette lighter/power outlet is not working, the first thing you should check is its fuse.
The fuse for the lighter can be found behind the small storage compartment on the lower left side of the dashboard. To access it, you have to open the small drawer, push in its sides and pull it upwards.

Next, you’ll need to locate the fuse, which should be the second one on the last row. However, to be sure you can always check the user’s manual.

To take out the fuse, you’ll need a special pliers tool which can be found in the other fusebox in the engine compartment. Take it from there, pull out the fuse and replace it with a new one. Make sure it’s a 15 Ampere one.
