So, you just got a Scion FR-S and want to make it even sportier by upgrading its suspension, right? Well, you came to the right tutorial.
If you really want to do this yourself, you might want to gain access to a car elevator if you don’t want to struggle too much. Next, you’ll need the performance suspension pack and a full set of tools, with different screwdrivers, wrenches and ratchets. Here are the steps:
Watch the video bellow for more details.
- Elevate the FR-S and remove its wheels
- Detach the brake line so you won’t damage it
- Disconnect the sway bar from its upper linkage
- Remove the bolts holding the wheel hub attached to the damper
- Lower the car and remove the 12 mm bolts from the top of the damper. Hold the damper while you do this as it will fall
- Remove the damper
- Find something to compress the damper’s spring in order to unmount its top. You’ll use it on the new coilovers
- Mount the new coilover in its place and connect everything back
- Same goes for the other side.
