Tesla is the perfect example of a company that's grown in leaps and bounds. We could have said "textbook" instead of "perfect", but there's nothing textbook about Elon Musk's firm or the car it makes.
The Model S has made electric cars extremely desirable to a very wide and global audience. Sales are still nowhere near those of the Toyota Prius, but the overall impact is probably bigger. You can't open a gossip tabloid without seeing a Hollywood celeb driving one. Their next step promises to be an even bigger leap, the Model X, a full-size crossover utility vehicle, an SUV if you want to use the broader sense of the word.
First shown as a concept back in February, the Model X is getting closer to production. As of a few months ago, Tesla's plans have been to put it into mass production in the second quarter of 2015. And as the due date gets closer and closer, we though it was only appropriate to share this video on how to draw the Model X.
The design language is quite similar to the S sedan, but vertically stretched. The trademark invisible door handles and blocked up grille are evident, but with a Porsche Macan sort of vibe added on top.
But don't get your electric cable in a bunch, everything could change by 2015. During a recent investor meeting, Elon Musk stated that the production model will look different to what we've seen in so far, better… somehow. The CEO also hinted that it will be made to appeal more to female customers than the Model S: "We probably got a little too guy-centric on the S. So, we're hoping to correct that with the X."
We'll leave it up to you to decide if he means it will come with a Beetle-like flower holder!
