The Honda Pilot and Odyssey are being investigated by US regulators, to verify a possible issue with the ignition. Apparently, the mechanism which locks the key in the ignition until the car is shifted into ‘Park’ can fail, and the car can start rolling unattended.
The issue affects quite a few cars, some 577,000 to be precise, all with automatic transmissions. The affected model years are 2003 and 2004, and so far Honda has had 43 complaints, of which 16 apparently resulted in crashes. Of those 16, two resulted in injuries the owners got while trying to stop their cars from rolling - one owner reported a broken leg.

Currently, the problem has yet to warrant a recall, but we have a feeling it will, as Honda usually don’t like their reputation being tarnished without a proper response, and the proper response in this case would be a recall.
