Honda have initiated quite a few recalls, in recent months, and the latest one is really quite massive. They are calling back some US 625,762 cars, of which 573,147 are Accords with V6 engines, manufactured between 2003 and 2007.
The reason cited for the recall is the fact that prolonged exposure to engine heat may cause the power steering hose to crack, which would allow hydraulic fluid to seep out onto the hot catalytic converter. This could causes smoke, at first and then, possibly even a fire.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be officially notified on October 26, and they will be asked to take their cars to a dealer for a free swap with a new part. However, Honda says that they currently don’t have the necessary number of parts, and they will only become available in early 2013, so owners will have to wait until then.
