You love retro bikes, but the BMW R nineT and the Triumph Bonneville aren’t your cup of tea? Maybe Honda’s new CB1100 range is more appealing, with the new RS being added while the EX is getting upgraded for 2017.
Honda unveiled the CB1100RS at INTERMOT, Cologne, creating a new variation for the existing CB1100EX which also got updated, thus making its retro niche even cooler.
The frame and big 1,400 cc inline-four engine remained the same but comes with a revised air intake and exhaust system to make it compatible with Euro 4 emission regulations. Both the RS and he EX versions are equipped with the slightly revised power unit.
There’s also a new curvier gas tank that lacks the seam-welded lips on the bottom edges while still reminding of the CB history. The seat is also changed and sits a bit lower, pushing the rider’s weight a bit forward.
As the two letters at the back tell, the CB1100RS is the slightly sportier version of the base EX. It comes with a new 43mm Showa dual bending valve two-piece fork and remote reservoir shocks at the rear as well as new 17-inch cast aluminum wheels shod in sport tires.
Dual radial-mounted Tokico four-piston calipers at the front are also part of the upgrade. The EX, on the other hand, does with a bit more standard brakes and rear shocks. The front fork is the same although finished in a satin gray instead of gold. The EX also gets 18-inch stainless steel wired wheels and LED lights (same LED lights found on the RS too).
Color wise, the RS is available in black or red, while the EX can be had in yellow or white. Pricing information hasn’t been revealed yet, but it is soon to be confirmed along with full specifications soon.
