HRC announces the new cross-country team for the 2014 championship. Currently, Honda is fielding a three-rider line-up, and has also made structural changes as far as the team management is concerned.
Honda appointed Wolfgang Fischer as the Team Manager for both the cross-country and the Dakar 2015 operations. After a solid comeback into the Dakar series, Honda is looking forward to win the prestigious race, especially as the first results turned out a real potential for the new bike and the whole team.

With the success in the FIM Cross-Country Rally World Championship last year and great overall achievements in the off-road motorcycle segment, Team HRC General Manager has all the reasons to believe that 2014 will be an even better season. “I’m very happy that Wolfgang Fischer takes on the role as Team Manager for Team HRC. One can be sure that Fischer will bring innovation and enthusiasm to the new team as the team undertakes the new 2014 season. With Rodrigues, Barreda and Gonçalves we have three highly-experienced and motivated riders who HRC can count on to be in the running for victory,” Bianchi adds.

The trio HRC is lining up for 2014 has Portuguese Paulo Goncalves and Helder Rodrigues, and Spaniard Joan Barreda Bort, all three being highly-experienced riders in both the cross-country and Dakar competitions. Rodrigues finished the Dakar 2014 in the 5th position, with Barreda in the 5th and claiming 5 stage victories. On the other hand, Goncalves is the reigning FIM Cross-Country Rally world champion, and looking to defend his crown.

The first event in the cross-country rally calendar is the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in the United Arab Emirates, 4-10 April 2014.
