Honda and Bentley Show Support for WorldSkills Event

Car makers Honda and Bentley have shown their support for the WorldSkills 2011 event that will take place in London, in October 2011.

The two car makers are among the sponsors of the show that displays the importance of skills in sectors such as autobody repair and web design. There will be benefits for Bentley and Honda, as the event’s attendance is expected to be somewhere around 150,000.

"With an extra £180m of investment in apprenticeships announced in last month’s budget, vocational skills are at the top of the Government’s agenda. We want them to be at the top of every employer’s agenda too – and we are reshaping the skills system to help businesses large and small meet their most pressing training needs. It’s great news that by backing WorldSkills, some of our best firms are helping us make the UK a beacon for technical and creative excellence,” skills Minister John Hayes said.

The event usually takes place once every two years in a different host country, and this year the WorldSkills will take place at the ExCeL London on October 5 through 8. The estimated 150,000 visitors will have the chance to see 1,000 competitors from 50 countries competing in 45 skill areas during four days. The visitors can choose from a wide range of skills, from electronics to plumbing, creative arts and fashion to cabinet making.

We’re delighted to be involved with an event as big and exciting as WorldSkills London 2011. At a time when skills are more important than ever to our economy, business investment is vital to ensure that talented young people in the UK have the chance to realise their potential,” said Neil Fletcher, Head of the Honda Institute.
