Hexis Racing Revs Up for FIA GT3 Championship Title

Hexis Racing, the official Aston Martin Racing Team are getting prepared for the final round of the FIA GT3 Championship, where it will compete to take both the Team and Driver titles. The round is due to be held in Zolder, Belgium, on October 25, 2009.

Hexis Racing are the current European FIA GT3 vice-champions in both the Team and Driver standings, and their chances for this year’s titles have improved after the FIA International Court of Appeal overturned an exclusion imposed at Oschersleben, reinstating six points for the two DBRS9 cars, driven by Thomas Accary and Julien Rodrigues.

The two Aston Martin GT3 cars have recorded three victories and three additional podium finishes this season. With the points they managed to retrieve, the team is first place in the current standings and has high hopes for the finale.

“We are all very happy and relieved that the FIA reached a fair decision, recognizing that a simple clerical error made by the manufacturer when the DBRS9 was first homologated was just a mistake and that no performance advantage was gained. It is to Aston Martin’s credit that they resolved this situation and we are back in the hunt for the Championships,” commented Hexis Racing Team Manager Philippe Dumas.

“I am delighted that we can put this behind us and Hexis can focus their efforts on fighting for the prestigious FIA GT3 title on the track. I wish them the best of luck as they head to Zolder for the final races of the season,”
added David King, Head of Motorsport for Aston Martin.
