Hennessey's 700 HP Dodge Viper Lands On Dyno, Sounds Like a V10 Tornado

Hennessey Performance's 700+ horsepower Dodge Viper isn't new, but when such a speed demon hits the dyno, you simply sit down (or maybe jump for joy) and listen.

And this is exactly what happens in the video at the bottom of the page, which sees the snake doing its thing in the dyno room.

With its massive hood popped for better cooling, the Venom 700R (this is the official name of the upgraded Viper) delivers the kind of bass boosted aural experience, thanks to the marriage between its V10 heart and the custom goodies installed by the Lone Star State developer.

And while we're at it, we'll remind you of the bits and pieces that make up this naturally aspirated package. The list includes high-flow cylinder heads, a stainless steel exhaust system comprised of long tube headers, high-flow catalytic converters and 3-inch piping and a custom air filter supplied by K&N.

Hennessey talks about the Venom 700R offering 705 hp at 6,400 rpm and a peak torque of 695 lb-ft at 4,400 rpm. However, you can use the dyno chart about to get the real world numbers (note that you'll get to see the values at the rear wheels, as opposed to the crank figures mentioned above).

There's also a list of options, with most items here aimed at preparing the supercar for track time. We're dealing with a rear diff cooler, a rollcage, a five-point racing harness system, a Penske adjustable coilover suspension, as well as Hennessey monoblock wheels.

Sure, with chances of coming across a Hellcat now being rather high, the tuner also offers even more muscular Viper shades. We'll start by mentioning the company's 800 hp upgrade, which brings a supercharger to the game. Then there's the twin-turbo package, which ups the ante to 1,000 hp. You know, for the sake of nicely rounded numbers.
