On December 12, the mad folks at Hennessey Performance Engineering rolled out the Goliath 650 supercharged upgrade for the GMC Sierra 1500 with the 6.2-liter small block. In combination with a Whipple-supplied blower, the L87 EcoTec3 engine belts out 650 horsepower (as the name implies) and 658 pound-feet (892 Nm) of tire-shredding twist.
How much of that actually gets to the wheels? The bearer of serial number 001, the half-ton pickup truck in the video below offers 516.07 horsepower at 5,640 revolutions per minute and 512.40 pound-feet (make that 695 Nm) at 4,230 rpm on premium gasoline.

To put these figures into greater perspective, GMC advertises the 6.2-liter Sierra 1500 with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet (624 Nm) at the crankshaft. Although the Goliath 650 upgrade isn't on par with the Ford F-150 Raptor R or Ram 1500 TRX, a Hennessey-tuned leviathan is that little bit more special than said off-roaders in bone-stock flavor.

Speaking of which, the Goliath 650 can also be prepped for overlanding. Exclusive to the GMC Sierra 1500 AT4, the Off-Road package from Hennessey adds $22,950 to the final price of the truck. The power upgrade retails at $27,950. Including the base retail price of the AT4, namely $69,990 at the moment of reporting, a Goliath 650 with the Off-Road package costs at least $120,890.

The Goliath 650 supercharged upgrade is also compatible with the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, including the ZR2 off-road specification. Covered by a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty, said upgrade can be ordered from Hennessey Performance Engineering or through GMC and Chevy retailers.

The naturally-aspirated small block loses both Dynamic Fuel Management and Auto Start/Stop following said upgrade, which further comprises a stainless-steel exhaust of the cat-back variety. Highlights also include high-flow air induction and intercooling, chromoly hardened pushrods, a crankcase ventilation system, and Pennzoil engine oil because HPE and Pennzoil are long-time partners.

Prospective customers of the Goliath 650 are treated to a serial-numbered engine bay plaque, which – considering the $27,950 asking price of the supercharged upgrade – is a nice touch. Hennessey and Goliath exterior badging also need to be mentioned, as well as up to 500 miles (approximately 800 kilometers) of road testing prior to delivery.

The Off-Road package, which the AT4 in the video below wasn't equipped with at the time of filming the dyno pulls, adds custom front and rear bumpers. The front unit brings the point home with some LED lights. Considering its tremendous retail price, it shouldn't surprise you that Hennessey also works its magic on the suspension, tires (35 inches all around), and wheels (20s with a 10-spoke design).

If the Sierra's exterior styling isn't to your liking, fret not because Hennessey Performance Engineering can modify the F-150 and Ram 1500 TRX as well. Regarding the F-150, prospective customers are presented with go-faster packages for the 5.0-liter Coyote, 3.5-liter EcoBoost, and 5.2-liter Predator.
