Living in a compact home is definitely not for everyone. In general, tiny living appeals to people who want to downsize and simplify their lives, learn to live with less and more cheaply, and eliminate clutter, all the while helping the environment. While it's true that tiny living comes with certain compromises, it's fascinating to see how people manage to create big and fullfilling lives in small spaces.
To be able to lead a happy and fulfilling life in a compact house, you need to make the right choices when designing it and make sure it perfectly fits your needs and desires. Melbourne, Florida-based Movable Roots is one of the builders that can make your tiny house dream come true, with plenty of amazing custom designs standing as proof.

Today, we are going to look at the Henderson model, a beautiful tiny home on wheels with a modern look and a well-thought-out layout. It includes a main-floor master bedroom and a second-floor loft bedroom, a spacious living room, and a full-size kitchen and bathroom with features and amenities that make tiny living an appealing prospect for anyone.

The thing about tiny homes that scares many away is the difficulty of finding a balance between practicality and comfort. But that doesn't seem to be a problem in the Henderson tiny, as the designers managed to find that perfect gray area of compromise. The model sits on a 30-foot (9.1-meter) Movable Roots Trailer and features the builder's signature 2-foot (0.6-meter) extension on both the front and rear, bringing it to a total length of 34 feet (10.3 meters) and an interior livable space of 330 square feet (30.6 square meters).

The exterior of the tiny house harmoniously juxtaposes several types of materials for a modern look, including cedar, metal, and engineered siding tied together by a copper roof. The house also combines a gable roof above the kitchen and bedroom with a shed roof line on the loft to allow for extra interior vertical space.

A fold-down deck gives the feel of a conventional foundation-based home and is a perfect solution for those who want a place to enjoy the outdoors wherever they decide to park their mobile home.

Tiny house living's biggest appeal is that of simplicity and comfort, and the Henderson model delivers on both fronts. It features a bright and modern interior with a clever layout focused on creating a large open multi-use living space and using walls only for the bedrooms and bathroom, where privacy is much needed.

Tiny houses and minimalism have always been intrinsically linked. And when people think of minimalism, images of empty, dry, and sterile spaces might come to mind, but we've seen countless designs that contradict this misconception. The Henderson tiny home is one of them. In terms of interior design, the reclaimed barn wood flooring in natural colors combines well with the white cypress plank walls and the high ceilings, giving the perception of greater space.

The entire house is both calm and characterful thanks to the cleverly chosen color palette of whites, grays, and blues that create both contrast and cohesion.

The living room is spacious enough to house a three-seat or L-shaped couch facing a wall-mounted TV. Some floating shelves offer space to display photos, plants, or decor items.

The kitchen is the bright splash of color in this tiny home, as it features beautiful custom blue cabinets that offer plenty of storage space for cooking utensils and groceries. The quartz counters add a lot of character to the space, and instead of a tiled backsplash, the designers chose to integrate a narrow window between the base and upper cabinets to bring in more natural light.

The kitchen is not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, being equipped with full-size appliances, such as a refrigerator, gas stove/oven, sink, and dishwasher.

The open-space common area also includes a fold-down dining table opposite the kitchen. This being a tiny house and multi-functional furniture is a must, it can also serve as a workstation for those working from home.

The downstairs master bedroom is at the rear of the house and fits a queen-size bed with built-in cabinets on either side. Since there is no loft above it, it has enough standing height and enough walking space around three sides of the bed, plus an extra door that leads directly to the outside.

At the opposite end of the dwelling is the bathroom, which doubles as a laundry room and comes equipped with a shower with glass door, a vessel sink, a flush toilet, and a washer/dryer unit with large cabinets overhead. Both the ground-floor bedroom and the bathroom are separated from the rest of the house through space-saving barn-style doors.

The loft houses the secondary bedroom, which can be accessed via a built-in ladder and is protected by railing. It can comfortably sleep two individuals or serve as a storage unit.

The Henderson tiny home on wheels starts at $152,000 and can be hooked up to the grid for water and electricity. An off-grid option for extended adventures is also available if you are willing to pay extra.
