In the wake of its 4.4.14 launch, the BMW M4 Convertible was just spotted testing around the Nurburgring with the pedal to the metal, if we’re to judge by the sound it was making.
The S55 engine will truly, once again, bring the inline 6-cylinder spirit back to life this year, with unbelievable performance, silky smooth power delivery and an unbelievable sound to match.
In the video we get to see the car not just driven to the limit but enjoy that glorious sound once again, putting our worries to rest. Yes folks, the new M4 and M3 will have that exhaust note we’ve all been waiting for.
The burble is exceptionally loud, as you can hear for yourselves in the video below, making downshifting a hair rising experience. That’s also probably another reason why BMW decided to keep the manual gearbox alive, so you can rev your engine whenever you want to.
Speaking of the engine, in case you didn’t already know, the S55 unit makes 431 HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque thanks to its biturbo architecture and will rev up to 7,600 RPM, a more than impressive number considering it’s not naturally aspirated. Expect the unveiling of the new M4 Convertible on Friday and the first deliveries this autumn.
