Hamilton, Button Excited with Huge Potential of McLaren MP4-25

After 3 races in the 2010 Formula One calendar, former champion Lewis Hamilton is feeling more confident as ever about his potential for a second world title in the series. While acknowledging his team's chances prior to the start of the season, the Brit now reckons that his currently developed MP4-25 is the best car he has ever raced in the championship.

I love driving this year's car: I said to my engineers in Malaysia that I'd never had a car that felt as solid and as planted as the MP4-25, it feels like a car that you can not only find a perfect balance with, but you can also really push it, and it reacts well to the changes on full-tanks or when it's empty,” said Hamilton in an interview with the Formula One official site.

I don't think I've ever enjoyed driving a Formula One car more than I have with this year's car. Of course, it hasn't been perfect - but then nothing is - but I feel extremely confident for the races ahead,” added the 25-year old racer.

Hamilton insisted that a lot of credit should go to his team, as past experiences have taught him that the Woking engineers can turn a car from back-runner to a race winner in half of season – see the 2009 season. However, having already started with a strong foundation in 2010, Ham believes the future looks brighter than ever for the British team.

His comments were echoed by teammate Jenson Button also – the man who brought McLaren their first win this season – who emphasized the “huge potential” that the MP4-25 has for the ongoing campaign of F1.

The attention to detail is amazing, and my engineers and I have been working through some very detailed programmes to get myself further dialled into the car. (...) The most satisfying thing about the opening three races is the belief that we have a fantastic car beneath us,” said the reigning world champion.

I think the potential to develop this car is huge, and I know that that’s something we are working flat-out to capitalize on. I think we have a very, very strong foundation, but I’m most excited about what will be coming in three, six or 10 races’ time - that’s what will define where we finish the end of the year.”
