GT Academy 2011 Europe Announced

By now, if you are a hardcore gamer you should already be delving deep into the dazzling array of cars and race tracks that is Grand Turismo 5. So perhaps the event we are going to announce really needs no introduction.

If you are a racing game enthusiast, it's time to pit your skills against the best of the best, the cream of the crop that Europe has to offer in order to earn the GT5 bragging rights and the usual grand prize.

Nissan in Europe and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) have announced today that they will join forces to run a third installment of the popular GT Academy in 2011. The competition gives one talented and lucky driver the chance to fulfill his dream of becoming a certified racing driver.

Up for grabs this year are places at the GT Academy Race Camp and the grand prize, consisting of Nissan 370Z GT4 car in the prestigious Dubai 24 Hour International race.

We can officially announce that the GT Academy 2011 Europe is due to go live on March 4th. The Academy competition will be open to residents of the following countries: UK, Ireland,France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy and the Netherlands.

“It is also a great showcase for the fact that GT5 will continue to offer players more than just the game they have bought. It fully utilizes the online functionality of GT5 and highlights the community elements. I think that we shall see a lot of friends challenging each other to take part in GT Academy and seeing how good they are against others. I am sure that most people with an interest in motor sport have dreamt about having a go for real,”
stated the famous Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of the Gran Turismo games and president of Polyphony Digital.
