Just hours before the official launch of the 3rd generation MINI Cooper, the British are, once again, teasing us with a short clip showcasing the exhaust sound of the S model.
From previous reports, we know that the new Cooper S will drop the 1.6-liter turbocharged unit that was used until now and adopt a 2-liter 4-cylinder engine that develops 192 HP and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque, going up to 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) torque with overboost.
As usual with sporty hatches, the sound they make is pretty important. The marketing people over in Oxford know this and exploited it to the max in their latest video on Youtube.
We have to admit, the new engine sounds enticing, to say the least. If that’s because of the tunnel in which the car was filmed or not, we’re not really sure at the moment, but we’re willing to bet, the new car will sound just right, leaving room for a JCW version too.
