With the Huracan now out on the market, it's not hard to look at the Gallardo as a bit of a pensionar. After all, it's down on power and its look dates back to the very early 2000s. But grandpa here doesn't want to go to his retirement home quietly and is instead taking mechanical steroids to keep up with the young guns.
This next project comes from German tuning firm Mcchip-DKR SoftwarePerformance, who took an average LP560-4 to 750 hp using a supercharger kit. The Eaton compressor fits snugly in the bank and is accompanied by a new air intake an a coupe of intercoolers.
The tuners also fitted the car with a reinforced clutch and a Drexler differential lock so the rest of the car can cope with the increased power.
The Germans say it's doing the project with an emphasis on everyday practicality and usability, not outright power. As you all know, the Gallardo's V10 mill is capable of handling more than triple the stock output, probably the most extreme example being the 2,000 hp monster we saw at the Moscow Mile.
It will be 3 to 4 more weeks before fine-tuning for the engine is finished, but we can't wait to check it out!
