G37 Coupe S Gets into Rally Guise as Infiniti Work Car Zero

The pictures we are showing you might be misleading if you don’t notice siren on the roof of the car, as Infiniti has not actually taken up rallying. In fact, what the company is doing is to supply a G37 Coupe S as a safety car for the Rallies Championship of Spain.

The Infiniti Work Car Zero, as it will be known, started its safety rounds in the Rally of Villajoyosa on April 1. Despite its striking looks, this version is very close to the standard spec road-going car, with the only modifications needed for rally duty including the Vimesa roll bar, Bilstein dampers, Galfer brake pads, additional lights, siren, communications equipment and a GPS.

Obviously, safety was a big issue, so Sparco supplied the racing seats and seatbelts, the fire extinguishing system and equipment for the drivers.

Performance wise, the G37 Coupe is powered by an all-aluminum 3.7-liter V-6 engine that produces 320 horsepower and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) of torque at 7,000 rpm, and is linked to a six-speed manual transmission. All that power is sent to the back ground via a set of high performance Michelin Pilot SuperSport tires.

"Infiniti is a brand that offers high performance products and impressive technology, values that lend itself to motorsport support,”
said Polo Satrustegui, general director of Infiniti Spain and Portugal.

“The agreement with the Spanish Federation allows us to collaborate with the important task of providing event safety. And to extend Infiniti brand awareness,” added the official.

Rally expert Marc Blazques, World TT champion for Nissan, will sit behind the wheel, with Salvador Belzunces as co-pilot. Infiniti has also provided a safety car for the Spanish GT Championship.
