Fitness equipment manufacturer Peloton wants to expand the production of its bikes and treadmills by building a $400 million factory in the United States.
The company is currently manufacturing its products at third-party facilities in Taiwan but wants to expand and get closer to its customers, many of them from the States. This would reduce both the shipping costs and delivery times. The U.S. factory will be merely a step forward towards creating a global supply chain, as Peloton plans on continuing its manufacturing process on Asian soil, too.

The 200 acres Peloton Output Park will be located in Troy Township, Wood County, Ohio, and will be equipped with the latest industrial technology, according to the company. The fitness gear manufacturing plant, which is expected to be a state-of-the-art factory and among the largest in the world, will use renewable energy sources for its production operations.

The park will have a fitness center for its employees and customers will be able to visit the factory, view the Peloton fitness products, and even watch them being made.

The Troy Township area will benefit from more than 2,000 jobs over the next few years, with opportunities ranging from entry-level positions to managerial and executive.

Along with the acquired Precor facilities in Washington and North Carolina (for $420 million), Peloton will then have over one and a half million square feet of owned and leased manufacturing space in the United States.

The construction of the Peloton Output Park is scheduled to begin later this summer and the facility should be ready to open in 2023.

Peloton was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in New York. The company is popular for its at-home fitness products such as the Peloton Bike, Bike+, Peloton Tread, and Tread+. There is also a mobile app available that gives you access to various fitness classes across different disciplines. The Peloton app is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.
