Beside the E-Up! concept and the new Golf R displayed at the Frankfurt Auto Show, the German brand also displayed the new Golf Variant, a model whose pricing starts at 18,500 euros. The details of the car are already known as the company revealed the full list of specifications back in May.

The Variant will rely on the same engines as the 3- and 5-door versions of the Golf. In other words, customers may choose from six power units: one 90 hp TSI engine, two common rail turbo-diesels (105 hp and 140 hp) and later in the year two Multipoint engines (80 hp and 102 hp) and a new TSI gasoline engine, developing 160 horsepower.

According to the parent company, all of the four gasoline and two diesel engines meet the Euro 5 standard. Fuel consumption rates stand between 4.5l/100 km (1.6l TDI) and 6.4l/100 km (160 hp TSI). CO2 emissions range in between 132 g/km and 143 g/km.

As for equipment, the car will be offered, as standard, with ESP, six airbags, daytime running lights, roof railing, power windows all around, upshift indicator, power and heated exterior mirrors, 1/3 to 2/3 split folding rear bench seat and seat-back, central locking with RF remote control and climate control.

As said, pricing for the Variant starts at 18,500 euros for the model equipped with the aforementioned features. Two driver assistance systems are also available as options for the first time in the Golf Estate: "ParkAssist" (automatic parking assistant) and "Rear Assist" (rearview camera). Another feature being offered is the panorama sunroof that is popular among many Golf Estate buyers.
