Ford, one of the global carmakers with a very busy plan for the Chinese market, is currently in the process of preparing the launch of the Kuga SUV on the local market, as a means to tap into a segment largely dominated by local car makers.
According to just-auto.com, citing Ford insiders, the American SUV will be marketed on the Chinese market for prices in between 200,000 and 300,000 Yuan ($30,000 - $45,000). There are no details on the power units with which the model will be launched in China, but it is expected Ford will make them public soon.
Ford also announced earlier this week it will open 40 new dealerships in China, due to the increased demand and the market potential. Ford sells several models in China, with the cheapest being the Fiesta, which sells for prices in between 79,000 yuan ($11,900) and 110,000 yuan ($16,540).
The last we heard from one of Ford less advertised models, it received a power plant upgrade for the European market. The SUV received a new pair of engines, based on the 2.0l Duratorq TDCi diesel, which develops either 163 PS or 140 PS.
The model is equipped on the European market with the Ford PowerShift gearbox, which brings CO2 emissions for the 140 PS and 163 PS AWD models to 179 g/km.
Ford also offers a Titanium series for the Kuga, which comprises unique 'Individual' front grille body colored side skirts and wheel arches, 19 inch alloy wheels, roof rails, privacy glass, premium ebony leather, scuff plates and floor mats with 'Individual' logo, aluminum pedals and high gloss black trim.
