I still (at least partly) believe in the law of attraction. And I'll give you an example of what happened to me. I was excited to see the 1992 Mazda Autozam AZ-1 in my last Matchbox review. Several weeks later, a friend gave me one as a long-time no-see present.
My point is that I think I'll focus on one item in the upcoming Matchbox case. Maybe it'll find its way to my place sooner or later. I've recently seen a lot of fellow collectors finding the 2012 BMW 3 Series Touring Super Chase. Some have tried swapping it for a Hot Wheels Super Treasure Hunt. But I doubt they have been very successful.

It will not happen overnight if Mattel succeeds in raising people's interest in these items. People who collect because they are passionate about it would much rather see a nice casting than hunt for a "rare" item with no real value. I recently showcased some Matchbox Sneak Peeks, and I plan on buying the Radical SR3 XXR and the Chevrolet C1500.

But let's see if the newest case of basic items has anything exciting going on. The 2023 Ford Police Interceptor Utility is one of the latest castings that you'll find inside. I guess it's nice to have if you're a Police Car enthusiast or work in the force. It certainly wouldn't be my first choice if I came across it in stores.

Mattel selected the 1935 Ford Pick-Up for Super Chase duty, and people will probably lose their minds over it once it comes out. My only complaint is that we saw a similar vehicle a while ago: the 1932 Ford Coupe Model B. Someone listed one for $123 on eBay, but most people will try to sell it to you for less than $20. So don't start spending a fortune on the new Super Chase if profit is your only target.

You might be happier with a simple item like the 1975 Opel Kadett C GT/E instead. You can find six other variations; just don't expect the Promotional Toy Show Leipzig to come cheap. The 1972 Lotus Europa is Ryu Asada's work and has been part of the Matchbox line-up since 2009. Mattel hasn't used the casting since 2021, and I'm particularly excited about it for a reason you may not expect.

That's because about a decade ago, RE Amemiya unveiled one with a 3-rotor, 20B engine in the back! It's just another one of Ama-san's crazy creations, and I think I've found my target casting for this case. I'm almost equally happy to see the Polaris RZR here, and I hope I'll get to drive the real thing sometime this year.

The 1970 Ford Bronco is another brand-new casting here, and it could have been pretty good. But it feels like Mattel messed up the wheel size on this thing. Perhaps Bronco enthusiasts won't mind seeing that kind of wheel gap. I wanted to buy an iteration of the Volkswagen Golf MK1 a few years ago, but I can't remember why I hesitated.

Now it's back with a new color, and I'm putting this one on my list. The Tesla Roadster looks decent enough in Metalflake Black, but at least three other colors would make it stand out of the crowd. Will you be buying any of the cars in this new case?
