Ford Starts Fiesta Movement in the United States

Ford has already selected the 100 agents to take part in Fiesta Movement, so the company is now ready to debut the campaign in the United States, the automaker announced today in a press statement. For those of you who missed the new or haven't heard of Fiesta Movement, it is a special programme prepared by the car manufacturer that is supposed to show Americans the main advanced of using such a fuel-efficient small car as Fiesta.

Basically, Ford selects 100 people that will take place in the campaign and will test drive the new Fiesta. They will then share their impression on popular Internet websites, including social networks such as Facebook and video sharing services as YouTube.

Ford says the company received more than 4,000 applications, as well as around 640,000 views of applicant videos on YouTube, 300 visitors on Facebook and 600 users on the Twitter account.

"We got a tremendous response from consumers, a lot of exciting people decided to apply," said Sam De La Garza, small car marketing manager. "Choosing the 100 agents is a critical step in the movement, pulling us one step closer to getting people in the vehicles."

The new Ford Fiesta, which already received thousands of sales in Europe and Asia, is expected to go on sale in the United States next year. European sales in January and February totaled 59,600 units, with overall deliveries since the official release in August 2008 reaching 120,300 units. Since 2010, the new Fiesta will be produced at various plants around the world, including Germany, Spain, Mexico, Thailand and China. The North American flavor will be built at Ford's assembly plant in Cuautitlan, Mexico.
