Inspired by exquisite furniture and latest fashion trends, the Blue Oval's attempt to beautify the MPV segment materialized today with the unveiling of the S-Max Vignale Concept at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. Essentially, it's a preview for the top-spec version of the next-gen S-Max, following on the original 2013 S-Max design study from last year's Frankfurt motor show.
The posh trim level is all about premium design, craftsmanship and exclusive specifications. Distinctive 21-inch alloy wheels, dark-chromed polished aluminium detailing, chrome mirror caps and a special hexagonal grille design sums up what's on the outside of this S-Max Vignale.

As for the cabin, the quilted seats and almost every other surface is wrapped in premium leather with white stitching. Leather extends from the dashboard and instrument panel sweeping past the glass roof to the rear luggage compartment in a single colour that creates a lounge-like environment.

The seats feature a new variation on the quilting effect first demonstrated in the Mondeo Vignale Concept, sporting hexagonal quilting bordered with square quilting that stretches across the centre-rear seat and front armrest. Aluminium accents on the dashboard, behind the steering wheel and in several other places complete the cabin features list. On the tech front, highlights include advanced car-to-car communication technology, tablet device-docking stations for second row seats and an intelligent flexible seating concept with thin seat technology.

Future Vignale models will have to fare against established premium car makers from Europe in providing an alternative in markets where the Lincoln brand isn't sold. It most likely means that Ford won't bring the S-Max and Mondeo Vignale to North America. The production version of the S-Max Vignale is in the making and will second the Ford Mondeo Vignale sometime next year.
