The carmaker might have a point, since the turbo setup of the new Fusion, which spins all the way up to 190,000 rpm, is made of the same MAR M246 nickel-cobalt-tungsten superalloy that can be found in the high-pressure turbo pumps of the Space Shuttle’s main engines.
