Ford Not Working on New Focus RS Right Now!

We were just thinking there is too much of a delay between the normal and really hot model on some cars when we learned the development of the next Ford Focus RS has been put on hold. Dearborn is focusing on fuel-saving technologies rather than performance flagship models.
According to Car Advice, Ford is focusing on the many more derivatives based on the Focus platform. Currently, 11 vehicles are based on it, including an EV and the Kuga crossover. With expected combined sales of two million units globally, it’s no wonder the few thousands of Focus RS they were to sell are not a priority.

“We are not working on [the new] RS right now,” says Ford’s vehicle line director for small cars, Gunnar Herrmann. “It’s just because we have other priorities to clean up and effectively we have to make a final decision on how we proceed [with the new RS]. We have other items to proceed with. We’re finishing up the Focus ST launch [which takes place in May], while most derivatives should be on road by May, with Kuga in October, [then] the electric Focus, so it’s very busy right now.”

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
