Ford's Australian arm has made the Mustang Mach-E a bit more affordable across the range, ahead of the model's local delivery kickoff scheduled for this month.
According to the company, the most affordable version of the electric crossover will start at AU$72,990 (US$47,962), which makes it AU$7,000 (US$4,600) cheaper. The mid-range Premium will have a manufacturer list price of AU$86,990 (US$57,161), down by AU$4,675 (US$3,072).
As a result, both the Select and Premium versions of the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E fall below the Luxury Car Tax (LCT), thus qualifying for the Electric Car Discount Policy that exempts them from the Fringe Benefits Tax when bought through a novated lease. The range-topping GT is also less pricey, as it will come from AU$104,990 (US$68,989), down from AU$107,665 (US$70,747).
The base variant of the Ford Mustang Mach-E features a motor driving the rear axle and enjoys 198 kW (269 ps/265 hp) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque, offering a 470 km (292 miles) range on the WLTP cycle. The mid-grade improves the output to 216 kW (294 ps/290 hp) and can travel 600 km (373 miles) on a full charge, and the top-spec comes with all-wheel drive, 358 kW (487 ps/480 hp) and 860 Nm (634 lb-ft), and has a 490 km (304 miles) range.

But how much is Ford asking for a Mustang Mach-E in the United States? That would be $42,995, before destination, options, and dealer fees, for the entry-level Select. The 2024 model year lineup reveals that the Premium is offered from $46,995, whereas the top GT has an MSRP of $59,995. The Blue Oval also has the California Route 1 version in its portfolio, which slots between the Premium and GT, starting at $56,995.
Ford's 2023 Mustang Mach-E Select has a 250-mile (402 km) range and the ability to accelerate to 60 mph (97 kph) in a very respectable 6.3 seconds. Upgrade to the mid-spec Premium, and you will get the same performance and range as in the base flavor, albeit more gear. The GT comes with a dual-motor setup and electric all-wheel drive, dropping the acceleration to a dizzying 3.8 seconds. The EPA estimated driving range for this grade is 270 miles (435 km).
Unveiled four years ago and on sale since December 2020, the Ford Mustang Mach-E is unrelated to the iconic muscle car, as it builds on an entirely different platform. It is made in Mexico and China, features rear- or all-wheel drive, depending on the specification, and is about as big as a third-gen BMW X3. Several special editions of the zero-emission crossover have been launched over the years, as the Dearborn car manufacturer wants to keep it on the competitive side of the segment for as long as possible.
