Automakers really want us to stop visiting specialized shops and modify our vehicles for off-road use. Even Porsche and Lamborghini gave us lifted versions of the 911 and Huracan. However, Ford is now trying to attract new customers for its all-electric 2024 Mustang Mach-E with the Rally spec. You might want it, but not because of its capabilities to deal with rough terrain. Here's what you need to know.
Chevrolet Blazer EV and Tesla Model Y Performance who? All kidding aside, it's great that automakers are trying to capture more of the existing car market. Unique trims or limited-edition models are a great way to bring more people into the zero-tailpipe emission world. They're also a brilliant solution to compel someone into considering a range of products.

So, what's up with the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally? Well, it isn't a purebred off-roader or a crossover boasting a wild suspension lift kit.

The Rally version of the vehicle gets customers a two-motor EV with 480 hp and around 650 lb-ft of torque. Beneath the floor, a 91-kWh usable battery allows the unit to drive about 250 miles on a full charge. The suspension sits 20 mm higher than other Mustang Mach-Es, and the absolutely lovely wheels measure 19 inches in diameter. A RallySport Drive mode will also be exclusive to this EV. Activate it, and the car should become a little more tail-happy.

The gloss white rally-style alloy rims have 235/55 Michelin CrossClimate2 tires wrapped around them with beefier sidewalls and "loose surface grip" that help the above-mentioned drive mode enable an even more intense behind-the-wheel experience.

The racing stripes on the hood are standard, and the new model can be ordered in Grabber Blue, Eruption Green, Grabber Yellow, Star White, and if you don't want to stand out at all, Shadow Black or Glacier Gray.

If someone goes for a spec that isn't revealing at all, you'll be able to recognize the Mustang Mach-E Rally by the different front fascia. The fake grille now includes built-in rally-inspired fog lights. To further enhance this vehicle, the Blue Oval also gave it a recovery point built into the front end with an incorporated hook.

Ford also added skid plates to protect the two motors from any gravel damage. The brand added a protective film on the fender arches and the door cladding to protect them from whatever might be thrown at them when the driver accelerates enthusiastically. There's also a Focus RS-inspired rear spoiler.

Ford CEO Jim Farley said the Mustang Mach-E Rally takes the "Mustang where it hasn't been before – to gravel and dirt roads."

The enhanced EV is expected to have a starting price of around $65,000. If you want to be among the first to order one, there's a list on which you can sign up. Ford does not accept deposits or pre-orders for this car when writing.

It says that purchases will coincide with fast-tracked deliveries, which is a great decision. Waiting extended periods to take delivery of a brand-new vehicle has become a common practice nowadays. It's good to see someone breaking the cycle.

The 2024 Mustang Mach-E Rally will become available early next year, which is close to the production debut of the Fisker Ocean Force E. That's yet another all-electric crossover SUV that boasts beefier wheels, more range, and a solar roof. But it's almost $18,000 more expensive.

But if you're willing to scoop up some extra cash, you could also go for the mid-size Rivian R1S SUV that has three rows of seats, a McLaren 720S-inspired suspension system, and one motor for each wheel. If you love off-roading and being able to take the kids to school or soccer practice in comfort using the same vehicle, it's an option you cannot disregard.

Finally, the video below shows what you will be able to do with the all-new Mustang Mach-E Rally next year, which is to leave the EV in the middle of the woods and go to your desired destination by bicycle. Talk about an underwhelming debut, huh?

Car shows on TV and his father's Fiat Tempra may have been Florin's early influences, but nowadays he favors different things, like the power of an F-150 Raptor. He'll never be able to ignore the shape of a Ferrari though, especially a yellow one.
