While cars sales are in America are finally back on track, and plants are reopening, it’s a completely different story in Europe. Official figures for the month of March show a decline in demand to levels from 14 years ago.
Ford even delayed launching the production version of the B-Max for a few month because it new conditions weren’t right, and now we have more bad news from Ford Craiova, the Romanian factory where the compact MPV was supposed to be built.

Ford has announced that it plans to lay off salaried workers, according to HotNews.ro. Workers who are reaching retirement age have to willingly sign a list, and about 120 to 140 have done so already.

This is not a forced layoff program, and the retirees get 24 salaries as compensation. On the other hand, Ford is hiring 500 new personal.

The former Daewoo Motors factory was bought from the Government in 2008 and is currently making the Transit Connect. Considering the car was previewed in Frankfurt last year, the B-Max has been very slow to enter production.
