Considering the fact that the previous-generation Ford Kuga achieved the full five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, we were expecting this new model to build on the previous model’s excellent results. Now, after having been tested, we can confirm that it did well... really well.
It achieved an impressive adult occupant safety rating of 94%, thanks to a very stable passenger compartment, and an array of airbags and well-designed seats. Its score for child occupants is equally impressive, and the 86% rating shows that movement of child seats inside the cabin is minimal.

When it comes to pedestrian safety, the Kuga’s bumper scored maximum points for its protection of pedestrians’ legs, while the bonnet was deemed hazardous for adults, and not so much for children, who would hit it in an area where it would be much less damaging - it achieved a score of 70%.

Maximum marks in the safety assist category, as the Kuga comes equipped with standard ESP, seatbelt reminders as well as a driver-set speed limiter. The refreshed Fiesta was also tested, yet it did not differ at all from the previous car's five-star performance.
