We previously reported that General Motors is the king of November sales in the United States, but now’s time to cover the second best US manufacturer in terms of sales. As it happens, Ford Motor Company got to move exactly 187,000 cars the last month.
Compared to GM’s 225,818-strong November sales volume, the Blue Oval sold 38,818 cars less. Compared to the same month a year ago, the grand total represents a 2 percent decline, but the recently introduced all-new aluminum-bodied F-150 may change things a little by the end of December.
According to the manufacturer, the decline was anticipated because the Blue Oval manages its inventory levels as availability starts growing for the Mustang, F-150 and Transit. Additionally, the Mustang enjoyed its best November sales in 8 years and is turning in just 8 days on dealership lots.
Apparently, 8,728 Mustangs were sold the former month, with retail sales in Texas and California increasing 46 and 76 percent, respectively. The Ford Escape sport utility vehicle saw record sales for November, while the Lincoln luxury division posted its best month since 2007.
With only 8,113 Lincoln automobiles were sold in November 2014, that’s still a 20.6 percent gain over the same month of 2013. The best-selling nameplate from the brand is the MKC crossover, which is basically a more exquisite Ford Escape that's marketed by a certain Matthew McConaughey.
